Minimum Requirements
The incumbent needs to be r egis t ered with the
HPCSA as a Dental Assistant and have a M aste r '
s D egree (Lecturer) or be registered for a
master's degree as well as five (5) years'
experience as a dental assistant in the private or
public sector (Junior Lecturer)
Clinical knowledge in the Dental Assisti n g field
An additional qualification in education would be
desirable
Applicants with a B Tech or equivalent qualification
may be considered for appointment as a junior
lecturer in which case a Master's qualification must
be obtained within 3 years of date of appointment
after which the incumbent may apply for promotion
to the position of lecturer

Pla n , coordinate and oversee the Dental Assisting
programme
Assist in the establishing of a campus dental clinic

Liaison with other traini n g providers , Health
Departments , communities and the employer
sector of dental assistants
Ability to conduct and supervise research in related
dental sciences
