Purpose of the role
To analyse and interpret business challenges and
requirements through the application of various
statistical analysis techniques.
To provide continuous technical and analytical
statistical support to the business
To mentor and coach junior team members to
ensure understanding and application of best
practices / principals.
Qualifications
National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National
Certificate (Vocational) with 6 years’ relevant
experience in statistical analysis OR Relevant 3
year degree with a major in Mathematics /
Statistics (i.e. B Comm (Statistics), B.
Informatics) with 2 years’ relevant experience in
statistical analysis
Relevant post-graduate degree with a major in
Mathematics / Statistics (i.e. BSc Honours
(Statistics)) would be advantageous
Experience
Experience must include the following using a data
warehouse:
•Data analysis
•Information management
•Knowledge management
•Data mining and/or predictive
Experience required in retail credit risk
management environment would be advantageous
Knowledge and skills
Knowledge of:
•Knowledge of analytics
•Knowledge of project management methodologies
•Knowledge of table and database structures
•Min: SAS or SQL
Technical understanding and knowledge (different
operating systems / databases / programming
languages)
General business acumen
Knowledge of the retail credit environment /
industry, Basel II SAS, Cognos or Qlikview would be
preferred
Business acumen wrt understanding technical issues
and the impact these may have on the design and
delivery of business solutions.
Communication skills (verbal and written) in English
Numerical skills
Analytical skills
Computer literacy (Advanced MS Excel / Access)
Attention to detail (accuracy)
A degree of programming skill
Structured thinking and approach (process
orientation)
Able to interpret user requirements accurately
Able to translate business requirements into
business requirement specifications
Ability to investigate, analyze, design and deliver
business solutions
