Job purpose:
To render driving services.
Minimum Requirements...
Requirements:
• Junior Certificate (Grade 10 or equivalent
qualification) or a minimum of 7 months relevant
experience;
• Valid Code C drivers licence and PDP;
• Knowledge of the city/ies in which the functions
will be performed.
Job Specification...
Key performance areas:
• Deliver vehicles to merchants for quotations,
services and repairs, and collect once serviced/
repaired;
• Perform GMT tow truck duties for local and long
distance trips, as well as perform VIP standby
duties (i.e. after hours call out and roadside
assistance);
• Transporting vehicles to GMT's auction site in
Paarden Eiland (for monthly auctions);
• Transporting new, relief and redundant vehicles
between GMT's premises based in Cape Town,
Paarden Eiland and Maitland;
• Moving vehicles on site - booked in at the Section
Repairs and Maintenance Coordination;
• Assist with fitment or removing decals from
vehicles at the GMT premises or at client
departments' premises;
• Assist with charging vehicles batteries,
jumpstarting vehicles on site, at Top Yard, GMT
Rental and call outs to VIP Clients.
Competencies:
• A good understanding of the following:
o Driving and operating a (flatback) tow truck;
o Jumpstart a vehicle and change a wheel;
o Basic administration (completing forms);
o Operating a Garmin (navigation device), smart
phone (hands free kit), digital camera, two way
radio and tablet/ laptop;
o Road Traffic act, AARTO/ Traffic Violations Act
and reporting procedures with reference to
hijacking, accidents, theft;
• Good communication skills in at least two of the
official languages of the Western Cape;
• Good telephone etiquette and client skills;
• Geographic location district skills;
• Driving skills.
